I think a lifetime of conformity and silence trumps all science and logic. I was born atheist to Christian parents and it took me 38 years to tell other people in no uncertain terms what was obvious through common sense. It only takes about a tablespoon of science to realize there is no God, but yet it is so very difficult to swallow.
