Also, I like I observed earlier, it might seem like there is a “zero possibility” of me shuffling a deck of cards into numerical order. However, there is just as much as a possibility of that happening than me shuffling them into any other order. If I continued to shuffle the deck indefinitely, eventually I would shuffle them in that order. It just might take a few billion tries. I believe the same applies to evolution.

What I fail to understand is how Creationists think that there is a “zero possibility” of life originating spontaneously, when other spontaneous phenomena can be readily observed in nature (radioactive decay, for example, which occurs at random and without a catalyst). They discard scientific evidence as nonsense, then accept the idea of an invisible man in the sky as a completely rational alternative. What really scares me is that some of the most (otherwise) intelligent people I know believe that the Bible is literal truth.

As Galileo said, “I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use.”
